System Software

Improved touch capabilities on SMART Board MX (V5) Plus

SMART Board MX (V5) Plus series displays now support up to 64 points of touch on Windows.

SMART Tools & Utilities

SMART Caption

Transcribe lessons in real time using the built-in microphone array or a SoundLift microphone. Students can view live captions on their devices and access translations in up to 59 languages during or after the lesson. When the lesson ends, share the transcript and an optional recording with an AI-generated summary to support review and accessibility.

SMART Spotlight

Use SMART Spotlight to dim the screen around important content to keep students focused. Choose a circular or rectangular spotlight, and then resize and move it as needed.

Screenshot with SMART Lasso

Now you can select part of the screen and save it as a screenshot to use in a lesson, share, or keep for your records.

Compact PIN pad for SMART ID card sign-in and lock screen

The PIN pad for SMART ID card sign-in and the SMART lock screen is now smaller and appears in the lower-left corner of the display. Drag it or tap anywhere else on the screen to move it, so others can’t see your PIN as you type it.

SMART Annotate browser and web annotations

Write directly on webpages with a dedicated browser. Annotations stay anchored to the page as you scroll and remain in place across tabs. Turn this feature on in Settings > SMART > Annotations.

Note that SMART Annotate browser is designed for web annotations. For advanced features such as bookmarks, extensions, private browsing, or drag-and-drop to Whiteboard, use browsers like Chrome and Edge.

Live annotations on media players

Write over content from streaming devices, disc players, and similar sources without freezing the screen. Turn this feature on in Settings > SMART > Annotations.

Whiteboard

Rich text formatting

Change the font, size, color, style, and alignment of text annotations with the new text toolbar. In Whiteboard settings, you can set separate default fonts for new text and for ink to text conversions. Fonts you install on the display also appear in the font list.

Ink to Math pen

Select the Ink to Math pen in the Pen menu to convert handwritten equations into typeset math.

New Zealand local content

Three new ready-made templates are available in the Australia and New Zealand local content. The Kiwi Handwriting font is also available to support local handwriting standards.

SMART Control

Stronger enrollment code

SMART Control enrollment codes are now 10-character alphanumeric codes, replacing the previous 6-digit PINs. The longer codes add security to display enrollment, so displays join only the organization you choose.

SMART MultiStylus accessory

New quick actions

You can customize SMART MultiStylus pen buttons with additional functions: Launch SMART Lasso, and volume up or down adjustments.

SMART SoundFlow accessory

SMART SoundFlow app

SMART SoundFlow comes with a new app that makes it easy to configure and manage SMART SoundFlow audio broadcasts directly from your display. Set up broadcast names, security PINs, audio settings, and range preferences in a single, streamlined experience. The app also supports automatic broadcast startup for a more seamless classroom experience.

Join the iQ 4 Early Access Program

As part of SMART's phased release process, iQ 4 software releases are now available through our Early Access Program several weeks before they become broadly available through automatic over-the-air (OTA) updates.

These are tested, official releases. Early Access gives organizations the opportunity to take advantage of new features, platform enhancements, and Android updates sooner, while providing more time to plan and manage deployments before general availability.
