Important update for iQ 4.7 and user restrictions

Issue

SMART has identified an issue affecting SMART Board displays running Android 15-based versions of  iQ (4.7.0 and later). On affected systems, certain user restrictions that are typically applied through a mobile device management (MDM) system, including SMART Remote Management (SRM), may not persist after the display is restarted. Following a reboot, these settings can become available again until the restrictions are reapplied.

See the Technical details below for the user restrictions that are affected by this issue

Technical details

The affected user restrictions are managed by the pm set-user-restriction command, typically accessed via the adb shell. The full list of restrictions that are managed by this command is found here: https://developer.android.com/reference/android/os/UserManager

Component Version
com.smarttech.clementine.bedrock 2.0.3

Resolution

An update to resolve this is being distributed automatically via OTA to ensure all affected displays remain up to date and secure.

SMART strongly recommends that admins who use an MDM system to manage user restrictions redeploy these policy settings again to their displays. This will ensure that these restrictions remain in place on their displays.
