This release includes important security fixes for vulnerabilities identified during an independent security assessment. SMART strongly recommends that all customers update to SMART Ink 5.22 SP1 and SMART Product Drivers 12.30 SP1 as soon as possible.
Several of the addressed vulnerabilities have been assigned Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) identifiers. In accordance with responsible disclosure practices, some CVE records may remain in a Reserved state for a period of time after this release. As a result, you may not immediately find public vulnerability details when searching for these CVE numbers.
To help protect customers while updates are being deployed, SMART may temporarily withhold technical details about certain vulnerabilities until public disclosure is appropriate. CVE identifiers and related information will be published as they become available.
This maintenance release also includes improvements to reliability, language support, PDF handling, and annotation workflows across SMART Ink and SMART Product Drivers.
Feature highlights (Windows)
- Expanded handwriting recognition support: All languages supported by Windows handwriting recognition are now available and can be installed through standard Windows language settings.
- PDF integration improvements: SMART Ink now registers more reliably as a PDF viewer, and uninstalling or upgrading SMART Ink no longer affects PDF file associations created by other applications.
